News

Announcement: The conference program is online. For further information click here.

Deadline for early registration extended to November 1st, 2009.

The Conference

The importance of studying knowledge science, knowledge engineering and knowledge management has been widely acknowledged. On the other hand, the accelerating pace of the "internet age" challanges organizations to compress communication and innovation cycles to achieve a faster return on investment for knowledge. Thus, next generation business solutions must be focused on supporting the creation of value by adding knowledge-rich components as an integral part to the work process. Therefore, an integrated approach is needed, which combines issues from a large array of knowledge fields like science, engineering and management.

In 2004, the China's Natural Science Foundation initiated a major research program called Basic Theory and Core Techniques of non-canonical Knowledge. This is a synthetic research fiedl involving theory, technique, tools, methodology and systems of research on knowledge and knowledge processing. It was motivated by this program that the "International Conferene on Knowledge Science, Engineering and Management (KSEM)" has been initiated.

KSEM aims to be a scientific conerence for research on knowledge science, engineering and management, attracting high quality, state-of-the-art research from all over the world. The conference endeavors to bring together researchers, developers, and academic and industry leaders, active and interested in KSEM-related research areas and their practices. The conference is specifically focused on becoming the premier forum for prototype and deployed knowledge engineering and knowledge-based systems. The conference offers an exceptional opportunity for presenting original work, technological adavances, practical problems and concerns of the research community. KSEM2009 to be held in Vienna is the third in this series, following two sucessful events in Guilin, China (KSEM'2006) and in Melbourne, Australia (KSEM'2007).

As its predecessor conferences KSEM'2009 aims to be an interdisciplinary event, providing a meeting ground for researchers in the broad areas of knowledge science, knowledge engineering, and knowledge management. KSEM'2009 proposes to be a forum for people to share their views, to exchange ideas, to develop new insights and to report state of the art research results.

We invite researchers from all over the world to submit original contributions on the topics within the triangle and on the synergism of
- Knowledge Science
- Knowledge Engineering
- Knowledge Management.

We wish to encourage especially the submission of contributions that espouse an interdisciplinary approach and look forward to receiving papers emphasizing novel aspects in the above fields.
